Rohit Sharma Retirement Date Confirmed After Century Against Australia
Rohit Sharma made a powerful comeback to Team India after seven months in the ODI series against Australia. Though he managed just 8 runs in the first match, he bounced back in style with a composed 73 in the second ODI and a spectacular 121 in the final game — marking his 33rd ODI century. With a total of 202 runs in the series, Rohit was deservedly named Player of the Series.
In a significant revelation, his childhood coach Dinesh Lad confirmed that Rohit Sharma plans to retire after the 2027 ODI World Cup.
“There were talks that he was not performing and should retire, but Rohit proved his critics wrong with two great innings — 73 and 121*. His confidence sets him apart. He aims to play till the 2027 World Cup and retire after that,” said Dinesh Lad in an interview with PTI.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Lead India to Dominant Win in 3rd ODI
Australia, after winning the toss, were restricted to 236 runs thanks to a brilliant spell from Harshit Rana (4/39). In reply, India cruised to victory as Rohit Sharma (121)* and Virat Kohli (74)* stitched together an unbeaten 168-run partnership, guiding India to a 9-wicket win and clinching the series 2–1.
This victory not only silenced the critics but also reaffirmed Rohit’s class and commitment to Indian cricket ahead of his final years in the sport.
